Shelter Loves.....

Happy Fri-yay. (I kept thinking it was Thursday all day) I managed to fit in about seven meetings and a bunch of great designing this week!! I'm about ready for some down time, how about you???? Here are my loves on this gorgeous day! Have a great weekend. xx

1. Brass buttons...I don't know, it's just something about them I love!
2. This moment at Kelly Wearstler's home is perfect. Look at those doors and the peek inside of this lovely house.
3. Jessie and Brian from Loeffler Randall have created a dynamic company with some of the best shoes out there!! These little booties are calling my name. find them here.
4. I like the simplicity of this pendant...I would order the brass.
5. Aside from being sick...:(  I believe you have the ability to solve almost any problem. I like this thought!
6. So of course the topic of convo on the fashion blogs this week is Spring 2016 Fashions! Fashion week was a big hit in NYC. I'd have to say Tory Burch did not disappoint. Her "beauty in unexpected places" is the perfect mix of bohemian with a touch of prep! LOVE. I need that orange top!

I'm signing off for the day........cheers!

Insta peek

THIS JOB! I've been working with this client on their entire home for well over a year! She is a wonderful person. All the bits and pieces are finally coming together. I can't wait to complete it for the family and to have it photographed! #Buckminster
Buckminster family room peek
This is another amazing job with another fabulous client. I helped this family out in Boston a few years back and now they are revamping a gorgeous home in the Burbs! We went with black windows, I'm so glad we took the risk. I'm am loving how this entire project is turning out. This is another one I hope to get photographed later this year. #Pickwick
Did I mention we planted a garden this year? I must say it is pretty rewarding to make a salad with the fruits of your labor..wink wink. I picked these this morning!!
Emmi girl helped me make chicken soup and brownies on Sunday! I love that she already loves to help cook! She truly is a great helper...A great sleeper she is NOT but a fantastic assistant, yes.
We live for the beach around here. I'll even head down when it's super windy and a little overcast. The waves were too big for the boys to go in on this day but they had fun in the surf! I told them they could only go to their knees. #mamabear
I planted these pretty flowers in the pots outside of my home! They are so low maintenance but I am not sure of their name! They are some sort of tropical flower that thrives in the humidity. Do you know the name?? If so, please share. They look similar to a desert rose but I don't think they are. I want to use them again! I am also loving my blue planters!
ALSO,,,,,, WISHING MY BOYFRIEND MATTY A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY AND YEAR!!!
LOTS OF LOVE,  JULIE, COLBY AND EMERSON

House Love!

If my memory serves me correctly I believe Patrick Dempsey is separated but this is the home he share(s)d with his family in Malibu. A favorite pastime of mine is perusing local real estate listings...I can thank my parents for this! As children they would tell my sis and I we were going on a "mystery ride". We both knew this meant getting an ice cream followed by a real-estate drive by or two. It's a fond memory and I think it rubbed off on me. My parents eventually found their dream piece of land this way and built their own home. I too dream of doing the same someday.

For now, I just have my eye out for that perfect find or "dream house". Massachusetts doesn't have too many modern homes with open floor plans but if I have said it before, I will say it again, Southern California styles are some of my favorites. The open and airy homes,  bungalows and modern farm houses of Malibu resonate with me. Patrick's is the perfect mix of modern and rustic. Choosing one look alone gets predictable but when you blend the two, amazing things happen....All images via AD, find more on this story here.

Love the look

I think most (not all) but most people have style icons that they look to for inspiration. One of mine is Olivia Palermo. Aside from the fact that she has the perfect petite little frame and gobs of money, Olivia has a natural talent for putting together flawless looks. Just google her name; I can't find one bad "street style" photograph of her. I love fashion and do think it's fun to dress up but my go to looks for work and play are more on the casual side. I gravitate to a style that doesn't look forced or overly trendy. Classic with a little edge would be a good way to describe it. Olivia never looks as if she has tried too hard...You just can't go wrong with that look! Have a great weekend! xo
Olivia has a collaboration coming up with Bauble Bar!! It launches on 9/29. Eek, I bet it's a goodie! Read more about the new collection and her influences here.

Shelter Loves

This post was meant for Friday but things have been a little nutty around here with the back to school routine!! My daughter started kindergarten today. It was a bitter sweet day for me. There will now be more structure in our lives but my baby looked so grown up in her adorable dress and high top! Yes, she insisted on wearing high tops with her dress. She's a girl who already knows what she likes and wants! I wish my baby all the best!

I am always sad to see the summer go but new seasons are nice. I need more order in my life. I am going to look at Fall and back to school as a way to start fresh.

Here are this (last) week's picks.

1.  When designing bedrooms for a client (and myself) my aim is to create a peaceful refuge. That does not mean it has to be bland. One key item for a beautiful bedroom is comfortable bedding.  Sally from a Piece of Toast featured her perfectly designed room. See the rest here. She features her bedding by Biscuit Home. Biscuit Home offers an array of pretty bedding styles..
2. I love investing in pieces that work over multiple seasons. This little clutch from Tory Burch would transition well from Summer to Fall.
3. I spent Sunday morning looking for art for a client. Jenny Prinn has a number of interesting pieces! I am loving her work.
4. My house is really in need of painting. I've been drawn to really clean lines and fresh looking homes lately. A crisp white home with grey shutters is unexpected.
5. Very true!!
6. I love mixing my light colored sleeveless tops with jeans through the Fall.

Who doesn't want to feel more organized??!! I've decided my kids need to take part in the back to school plan! I thought this check list was a great idea. I am going to follow some of these points. I am also going to hang them each a back pack hook!
